Mandy Mirelle Marks - BA(hons)Fine Art - Born 1972

I was born and brought up in London, and spent many years studying both fine art and interior design at Camberwell School of Art and Middlesex University.

In 1995, as a young artist with a need to understand my family history, I began working on a series of portraits of child victims of the Holocaust. After a few life changing events including the birth of my son in 2001, my work shifted. I found myself focusing mainly on natural beauty; light, colour and our emotional response to them; those things which we take for granted when we have them, yet cannot live happily without.

My family, especially my two sons have since provided me with much inspiration.

I have now returned to my Holocaust paintings with a new perspective and more practical skill. With a decade of experience behind me, I am in the process of creating a new body of work featuring those children from my earlier paintings.

Over the years I have also worked on many private commissions and mural projects, an activity which I really enjoy as it brings together my fine art and interior design skills.
